We see references to St. Isidore of Seville in the user guide and sample projects for Auction! Why?
St. Isidore of Seville is the patron saint of computers, computer programmers and the internet. We adopted him as the patron saint of our company some years ago.
He worked to compile a "summa" of universal knowledge, now considered the first encyclopedia, 20 volumes in 448 chapters, was extremely organized, and highly regarded. He lived in the late 5th and early 6th centuries A.D., and some considered him the most learned man of the age. He is now recognized as a doctor of the church, and served as Bishop of Seville for 37 years.
You can learn more about St. Isidore from several sources:
Computer software is a business that requires organization, compilation of knowledge, and structure, and we believe prayer is also very worthwhile.
We especially like the prayer to Saint Isidore on Catholicism.org--see the bottom of the page. Thanks for visiting us!
